Online Black Entertainment News With The Latest On Barry Bonds, Jordin Sparks and Samuel L Jackson... Oh Yeah, We Forgot About O.J.!

Those of you who luvvv Samuel Jackson will be in store for a few movies coming down the pipeline, including one with our personal favorite, Bernie Mac.

But don't look for either of them to be in the upcoming and sure to be controversial HBO Barry Bonds pic, nor grooving to new music from Jordin Sparks. In fact, is ANYONE grooving to the latest Idol winner's debut???

Before we answer that, looks like "Man That Rocks the Cradle" will be a star vehicle for Samuel L. Jackson. Celluloid is based on a story revolving around an overworked husband and father of four who decides the solution to all his problems is a live-in nanny. Under his JacksonNew Line production company, Jackson will play the nanny.

Speaking of Samuel L. Jackson, he and Bernie Mac are set for 'Soul Men', a road trip comedy to be directed by Malcom Lee. The pair will play bickering backup soul singers who haven't spoken in 20 years but reluctantly travel cross country together for a tribute concert to honor their famous former band leader. Jackson and Mac will do their own musical and dancing performances.

Lee, who directed "The Best Man," "Undercover Brother" and "Roll Bounce," most recently completed "Welcome Home Roscoe Jenkins," a comedy Lee also wrote; Martin Lawrence and Cedric the Entertainer star. Universal will release the pic in February.

Not to be outdone, HBO Films is going to bat about a pic focusing on San Francisco Giants slugger Barry Bonds. Bonds ended a season in which he broke baseball's all-time home run record only to be indicted for perjury and obstruction of justice charges for allegedly lying about steroid use. Story is based on the book "Game of Shadows: Barry Bonds, BALCO and the Steroids Scandal That Rocked Professional Sports." Bonds, facing arraignment in December, is characterized in "Game of Shadows" as a gifted player who made a deal with the devil type bargain to increase his power after watching bulked-up sluggers Mark McGwire
and Sammy Sosa race to break Maris' single-season record of 61 homers in 1998.

American Idol's Jordin Sparks certainly won't be breaking any records. In fact, folks are troubled over sales generated by Sparks' self-titled debut. Winner of the sixth and most recent season of "American Idol," and who many thought was the most marketable of the show's winners — has an album which has turned out the lowest first-week numbers of a debut issued by any of the show's previous winners.

Jordin Sparks enters next week's chart at #10 (the sole new release to crack the top 10) with little more than 119,100 sold. And for those of you still sold on OJ Simpson's innocence and want every insignificant detail about Orenthal, here you go.
That said, are we really trying to punish him on this silly case for killing Nicole and Ron? What say you???
