Within 24 hours of his most recent announcement of having raised $25 million in his run for President, Senator Obama raised an additional $435,000 from another 4,600 people, with most of those representing new donors.
Why is all this money important?
For those of you who are not political junkies like us, you need money to get your name known if you are running for any national political office. The best way to get your name known is to run TV commercials; and as we all know from the annual ruckus caused by Super Bowl commerials, advertising on television is a huge expense. No money, no quality TV ads, nobody who'll know you, nobody who'll vote for you.
It's that simple.
