Last reports indicate that Aaron McGruder was in the middle of a six month sabbatical. That was in September of 2006.
Then rumors abound of a falling out between him and BET top executive and executive producer of the Cartoon Network's The Boondocks, Reginald Hudlin. Not to mention how he is said to have pulled a Dave Chapelle with the syndicator of his cartoon strip, Universal Press Syndicate; it appears that McGruder has taken an extended leave of absence - Howard Hughes style - to "restore his creative juices."
Could this have been a case of too much, too soon for someone so young?
There is something to be said for the wisdom and maturity of experience.
