BET FINALLY LAUNCHES ORIGINAL SERIES

In it's 28 year history, BET has never created an original television series---until now.

A new sitcom, entitled "Somebodies," according to BET president Reginald Hudlin, is expected to premiere this October.

"Somebodies" centers around a group of black slackers (we'll reserve comment on THAT story premise until we see the show).

For many years BET has weathered stinging criticism within the black community for its lack of original and critically lauded programming while opting instead to air music videos, syndicated fare and reality shows. Hopefully since founder Robert Johnson is no longer on board and under Hudlin's direction, BET will finally emerge as a cable station our community can be proud of.

And let's pray that the next scripted show won't be "Good Times... Again?"
