MEMPHIS, Tennessee -- There was an emotional outburst from family members of an African American murder victim in a Memphis courtroom Thursday.
It happened as Dale Mardis pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the death Shelby County Code Enforcement Officer Mickey Wright. As the plea agreement was announced in court a bailiff had to restrain members of Wright's family.
Mardis, a white man, will spend 15-years in prison as part of the plea agreement. Mickey Wright disappeared on April 17, 2001.
Mardis led authorities to the location where he dumped Wright's burned and dismembered body.
