DANNY GLOVER: THE COLOR PURPLE'S ORIGINAL "MISTER" SET TO PUT THE BROTHER IN ABC'S "BROTHERS AND SISTERS"

Although Denzel Washington is rumored to not be a fan, Danny Glover is one of those seasoned actors that Hollywood can always count on to add some color to a cast -- figuratively and literally.

Now comes news that the 60-year-old 'Lethal Weapon' star is joining the cast of the ABC series 'Brothers and Sisters.'

According to 'TV Guide' via Black Voices, the San Francisco native is expected to play the interracial love interest of series star Sally Field in eight to ten episodes of the coming season. The two acclaimed actors previously shared the screen in the 1984's 'Places In The Heart'.

On 'Brothers and Sisters,' the Black actor will play the presidential campaign manager of Rob Lowe's character, Robert McCallister. The network describes Glover's character as "...smart, charming and a political shark."

A Hollywood political activist in the spirit of Harry Belefonte, Glover -- last scene on the big screen in Mark Wahlberg's 'Shooter' earlier this year -- has a slate of major film projects on the horizon, including John Sayles' drama 'Honeydipper' and the Jack Black comedy 'Be Kind Rewind.'
