Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick got a win today. One of few. He left court this morning with his "strong-Black-woman-to-put-up-with-your-crap", wife Carlita, moments after Judge Ronald Giles ruled that he did not violate the terms of his bond by being with a police bodyguard and the mayor's sister, who both witnessed his alleged assault on sheriff's deputies last month.
Kilpatrick, among everything else, has been charged with two felonies for allegedly assaulting officers seeking to serve a subpoena at the home of the mayor's sister, Ayanna. They hoped to find Bobby Ferguson, one of the mayor's best friends there, but instead encountered an irate Kilpatrick. This is the point where the alleged shoving match/assault occurred. Kilpatricks defence team asserts that Kwame should not be banned from seeing his sister even if she is a witness, because right now in this "Motown Mess", family is all he has.
