Jamaican Men Are Fast, But Jamaican Women Are Faster And Sweep 1-2-3 Olympic 100 Meter Finals

Shelly-Ann Fraser won gold in the women's 100 meters Sunday at the Beijing Olympics in a clean medal sweep for the Jamaicans. Americans placed 4th and 5th. Olympic track relay races are yet to come and it's obvious U.S. teams are in big trouble, and I'm not just talking about the women runners.

With U.S. men sprinters only able to get a third place from Walter Dix in yesterday's 100 meters, and former world champion U.S. Tyson Gay is really running with a hurt hamstring and didn't even qualify for the 100e finals, I don't see the men wining any sprint relays.

The battle for silver was extremely close as both Sherone Simpson and Kerron Stewart both from Jamica crossed the line in 10.98 seconds. Simpson and Stewart will share the silver medal.

American Lauryn Williams, the silver medalist in Athens, was fourth at 11.03 seconds and fellow U.S. runner Muna Lee was fifth at 11.07. Torri Edwards finished in the eighth and final spot at 11.20 seconds.
