Judge Jails Kwame Kilpatrick After Ordering Mayor & His Jumpoff To Proceed To Trial!!!

Detroit Continues To Be a Mess and Noone is Minding The Store!

Judge Ronald Giles of the 36th District court has granted a request by Kwame Kilpatrick's legal team to go directly to trial after Assistant Wayne County Prosecutor Robert Moran said he had no objection. Giles, however, later revoked hizzoner's bond and jailed the shady politico for violating the terms and conditions of his release.

Similiar to a trial, a preliminary examination usually is conducted so the prosecution can present at least some initial witnesses and evidence to a judge, who then decides whether there's enough to proceed to trial. Now those arguments are essentially moot and the case will go forward with a new judge to be determined by blind draw.

But problems continue to mount for America's embattled "hip hop mayor," now looking at new charges for assaulting a police officer trying to serve him with a subpoena, and because he traveled to Canada without first seeking permission from the court. Kwame Kilpatrick had previously agreed and accepted that he was not allow to leave the country. Being a lawyer, he should know better and Wayne County prosecutor Kym Worthy, also African American, was not having it!!!

The timing could not be worse, although it comes on the heels of his mother, U.S. Rep Carolyn Cheeks-Kilpatrick winning a hotly contested re-election bid.

In March, Worthy charged Kilpatrick with perjury, misconduct in office, obstruction of justice and conspiracy, eight felonies in all. The charges followed a Free Press investigation that revealed in January that the mayor and Beatty lied under oath during a whistle-blower trial about their sexual relationship while both were married, and then giving misleading testimony about the firing of a police official who knew about what was going down.

The newspaper later reported that the defiant brother brokered a secret settlement in the case by using $8.4 million of city money to hide his damaging text messages, in which the lies were revealed.
