Tennessee Titans Agree to Trade Pacman Jones, Aka Triffling Thug Baller, To Dallas Cowboys

Remember back in the day when The Dallas Cowboys was America's favorite football team. I remember my buddy back at Morehouse, Kevin Bass, was so obsessed he had cowboy paraphanelia everywhere, worshipped the Cowboy Cheerleaders, and would ignore the books, turn down being with his girl (you know what I'm saying) and kick his boys to the curb if in any way it meant missing Dallas playing.

So when I see that the team agreed in principle to acquire suspended cornerback Pacman Jones from the Tennessee Titans, all I could think was oh, how the mighty have fallen.

Jones, 24, received a 16-game ban last April for conduct detrimental to the league after his fifth arrest in less than 2 years.

In December, he pleaded no contest to a reduced charge of disorderly conduct after being ejected in February 2007 from a Las Vegas strip club shortly before a triple shooting that left an employee paralyzed.

He's expected to meet with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell before training camp to determine whether he can return to the league.

Jones, the sixth pick in the 2005 draft, totaled four interceptions for Tennessee during his first two NFL seasons, returning one for a touchdown. He also had four punt returns for scores.

The Cowboys will send Tennessee a fourth-round pick in this week's National Football League draft, ESPN.com said, without saying where it got the information. The Titans could receive an additional selection in 2009 if Jones is reinstated and plays a significant amount of time. If he doesn't get reinstated, the Titans would send an undisclosed pick back to Dallas in 2009. [Bloomberg]
