Before Don Imus spoke ill of the Rutgers' Women's Basketball Team, hardly anyone outside of New York and the east coast knew who he was. Look at him now. He's richer with a 20 million settlement from his former employer for breech of contract in firing him. And as my Los Angeles radio station KABC is now announcing, "Starting January 10th ... DON IMUS!" And during the very pregnant pause between "10th" and "DON" If you listen very carefully I could swore there is a silent subliminal message of "Screw you Black folks."
Now the question is, who put that subliminal message there? Was is it Don Imus or conservative radio station KABC playing it?
Don't tell me the subliminal message isn't there. Because that is not up for debate. Only in America can an old decrepit, ready to retire shock jock, be getting more money than the year before ... so the message is there. Only in America can the hiring of one white man put so many Black people and their supporters in their place,(back of the bus, barefoot in the stable, out in the field picking some produce)... so the message is there. Only in America can bad ignorant racist publicity be better than no publicity ... so the message is there.
So whether Don put the message there or KABC put the subliminal message there, I think we can all agree, "message received."
