Black Girls Lose Their Favorite Dolls; Mattel Toys Recall Polly Pocket
MATTEL TOYS INC. has recalled all Polly Pocket Dolls manufactured before November, 2006.
They were manufactured in China and those little magnets that hold some of their clothes together are coming out. The recall follows the hospitalization of three young children who reportedly swallowed more than one magnet from the recalled toys, creating holes in their intestines that required surgery.
My wife says to me "well that's not us, our girls got their Pollies for Christmas last year." I quickly corrected her that if the Pollies were here for Christmas, chances are they were made in China before November.
Now don't tell me you have a little girl age 5 to 12 that doesn't have Polly Pocket dolls.
These toys were the #3 girl gift last Christmas behind Barbie and those cute little Pet Shop Animals. Each day as I come home from work I find one of my girls on the computer at the Polly website playing the games, while the other daughter is counting up her Pet Shops (now at a glorious total of 23). Since we bought that darn Polly Car and Water Fountain, Saturday mornings are now a Polly Pocket mess.
But the thing my one angel loves above all is to put those damn Polly clothes in her mouth and chew on them. So guess who's got all these butt naked Pollies floating around the house? I don't think the store is going to take those back any time soon, but now I understand why bobby pins and paper clips have been sticking to her belly.
