Didn't Mean To Break Up Your Pity Party, But Sometimes You Can't Have A Rainbow Without A Storm

Don't Give Up

I don't know about you, but lately, I've noticed very little good news abounding.

These seem to be very tough times economically, socially, emotionally, physically, and intellectually for many.

With mortgage lenders tightening their reigns and the uncertainty and strong fluctuations in the stock market; with the fall of prominent role models and sports figures like Michael Vick; with the sky rocketing consumption of mental health pharmaceuticals; and the disarray of the public school system as well as the increasing astronomical costs of higher education, it's enough to make anyone want to give up on the promise of having America's dream.

However, I am here to write for anyone who'll read it, not to give up. Over the last three months, I have faced some daunting challenges. However, with my muster seed faith, I remain standing in the midst of life's storm that has felt as much as ten times the size of Hurricane Dean.

What keeps me strong? What enables those who go through not to give up? Two things, trust and faith. One of the beauties of turning 40, is that one can look back over his or her life to see how they managed to survive other challenging times.

As a result, I continue remind myself that it's the same God! God is God! There is nothing too big or too small for Him.While it may seem like I'm trying to simplify it, the reality is, it really is that simple. We as "highly evolved beings" have a tendency to make things complicated.

I discovered long ago that one of the primary keys to surviving a life challenge beyond our control is through the act of total surrender. What does it mean to surrender?
