With Patti Solis Doyle Now On Team Barack, Expect More Women And Latinos To Fall In Line
McCain Is Going To Need More Than Fiorino
Signs are beginning to indicate that many women voters who had supported Hillary Clinton's presidential quest are more quickly and willingly lining up behind Barack Obama than many analysts had anticipated.
And one conversion is bound to get a lot of attention -- the Obama campaign has announced that additions to its staff include Patti Solis Doyle, who for more than a year with undying loyalty managed Hillary Clinton's much criticized campaign bid.
While her signing on with Obama had been rumored for weeks, it's now official. Doyle will serve as chief of staff to his eventual vice presidential pick.
BREAKING: GORE TO ENDORSE OBAMA!!!!!!!
Jettisoned from Hillary's team during Barack's February streak of caucus and primary wins, Doyle she was singled out for much of the blame for a campaign that had not maximized Clinton's strengths in the race's early stages and then was seriously was short on cash during the Obama surge. Last week, the New York Times reported that since Doyle's departure, she and Clinton had not spoken.
Also on the list of new hires by Obama is another woman well-known within political circles: Stephanie Cutter, who served as head of communications for John Kerry's 2004 presidential campaign.
Cutter has been assigned to what could prove an especially challenging position -- chief of staff for Michelle Obama, expected to be the target of intensifying attacks from some conservatives.
Meanwhile, other than Democratic turncoat Joe Liebermen, John McCain's only sign of moving away from the dour, institutional WASP set is former Hewlett Packard CEO Carly Fiorino. Where are the brothers, the Latinos, the Asian women (other then Mr. Maulkin's baby mama Michelle) when it comes to signing the praises of the man I voted for in the California primary.
With comments like those coming from the political mainstays like Armstrong Williams and former Congressman J.C. Watts, this is not a good look for the GOP.
Michael Steele, former Lt. Govenor of Maryland, you're on your own Black man!
