The oldest son of singer/songwriter Ray Charles filed a $10 million lawsuit Friday against Joe Adams (right), his late father's long time manager. Ray Charles Robinson Jr. (left) says that he was coerced by Adams into signing over his shares of the family-owned company.
Robinson Jr. says that he was about to enter a drug rehabilitation facility and lacked the capacity to enter into an agreement. Adams did not allow Jr. to use his own money for rehab and told him that if he signed over the money, he would get his father's Mercedes-Benz, plus $10,000. Robinson Jr. alleges that Adams wanted to take control away from the Charles siblings so he could use their father's name for his own profit.
