The crazed New York building superintendent confessed last Saturday to strangling his own flesh and blood and dumping her unconscious into the basement furnace, police sources said.
The still-burning corpse of Anna Matias was pulled from the furnace that heats the Highbridge building’s boiler just after 11 a.m. Saturday, police and witnesses said.
An hour earlier, the victim’s father, Miguel Matias, called 911 to say he had strangled his daughter for using his computer to chat with a boy, the sources said.
Matias said he then stripped off her clothes, opened the manhole-size cover to the furnace and threw her body inside, they said.
The teen’s clothes remained scattered next to the boiler late Saturday as police searched the furnace for the rest of her charred remains. “It’s such a shock,” building resident Rosa Villavane said. “He was in my apartment just two days ago, and I never saw him mad.” [NY Daily News]
