The first two games of the 2007 NBA Finals seemed more like a basketball clinic than a competition.
SPURS & EVA WIN: LATEST UPDATE!
Last night we saw San Antonio doing the teaching and Cleveland learning some hard lessons about what it takes to win at the highest level of the sport.
Watching the game at restaurant with my family in Santa Monica, California, it was very interesting to see the various fans checking out the action.
In Game 2, the Spurs raced to the third-biggest halftime lead in Finals history, 58-33.
San Antonio pushed that margin to 89-60 near the end of the third quarter, but Cleveland went on a 27-6 run and only trailed by eight with 4:53 remaining.
Cleveland nearly transformed what was shaping up to be one of the worst Finals performances ever into perhaps the most improbable comeback of all time. But Eva Longoria's man Tony Parker jumper and a four-point play by Manu Ginobili put the game out of reach, and the Spurs won, 103-92.
Back at the restaurant, however, both my woman (who is black) and I noticed a glaring reality: Many of the brothers were with Latina and Asian women.
Not White women. And those who were Black were either bi-racial or very fair-skinned sistahs -- identical to those typically being chased by rappers, hip hop artists, and soulful balladeers in music videos.
The remaining African-American women tended to be with other Black females.
Now we know that hanging out near the ocean in Southern California is completely different than chilling in Washington DC, or strolling down Peachtree Street in Atlanta.
Or is it? Are you noticing the shrinking numbers of Black couples hanging out, and if so, are you cool with that? Brother's, talk to us!
