Now that he's penned a pseudo-fictional novel, Balancing Act (Simon & Schuster), more drama in o7 seems to the theme between the warring former couple. And Marcus Books in Oakland, described by one customer as stocking books "by and about Black people everywhere," has allegedly jumped into the fray by refusing to stock his novel, which centers around a young man who falls in love with a wealthy older woman before revealing he's gay.

The book was loosely based on his relationship with his wealthy ex-wife, Terry McMillan, 55, and Plummer, 32, divorced in 2005, eventually settling for an undisclosed amount. McMillan appeared on a 2005 episode of Oprah, and bitterly explained that her relationship with Plummer went sour after he concealed the fact that he was living on the downlow. McMillan's relationship with Plummer reportedly inspired her to write 1996's How Stella Got Her Groove Back.

When Plummer announced his book deal earlier this year, all the negative attention seemed to work in his favor. Entertainment Weekly gushed over Act, claiming it was "so juicy, it sweats." But McMillan wasn't as enthused. The literary behemoth sued her ex for $40 million for attempting to tarnish her reputation. While the brotha has to make a living, it does seem like our girl got played big time and is still getting a raw deal. Or maybe it's just me.

While the mainstream media continues to pay scant attention to the explosive domestic violence allegations involving popular televangelist Juanita Bynum and her husband Bishop Thomas W. Weeks III, black bloggers and savvy Internet users can't seem to get enough of the salacious details and juicy tidbits floating around cyberspace about the high-profile ecumenical couple.

In viewing the seach patterns of one million users during the week of August 25th, the percentage of folks looking for stories about Bynum and Weeks placed second, and it was the number one story on Google Trends. Last week, the story continued to remain in the top ten.

In the latest details to emerge over the controversy, Bishop Weeks still holds out hope that he and his wife can reconcile. In a statement released today by his attorney, Weeks said,“If that is not possible, I am committed to working things out amicably and will only litigate as a very last resort,”

Weeks hired family law firm Kessler, Schwarz and Solomiany on Aug. 22, hours after police responded to a call at an Atlanta hospital, where Bynum accused him of choking her, pushing her down, then kicking and stomping her in a hotel parking lot. Although Weeks is not planning to file for divorce, he was worried that his wife might, divorce attorney Louis Tesser said.“It is his strong preference to remain married,” Tesser said.

Reports of Bynum’s intention to file for divorce have been in the media for days, but no court documents to support the claim have surfaced in Gwinnett County, where the couple lived, or in Ware County, where Bynum has a home.Tesser and divorce attorney Randall Kessler said they have not been contacted by a divorce attorney on Bynum’s behalf.

“If she has hired an attorney for a potential divorce, we invite her and her attorney to meet with us privately whenever they like,” Weeks’ statement ends.Bynum said earlier this week that she wanted to go from being a victim of domestic violence to an advocate.“I believe domestic violence will be my new mantle,” Bynum said during a news conference.

Weeks is charged with aggravated assault and making terroristic threats.As a condition of his bond, he is not allowed to have contact with Bynum, and so has not been able to attempt to reconcile with his wife.“He would if he could,” Kessler said. [AP]

Actress Kim Fields (star of The Facts Of Life and Living Single) reportedly married her longtime boyfriend and the father of her child - Broadway dancer/actor Christopher Morgan.

Damage Control Kicks In Overdrive As Folks Speculate Whether The Stylist's Ex-Con Status Sealed The Couple's Fate

A close friend of R&B star Usher's former bride-to-be Tameka Foster said the pregnant stylist is "absolutely fine" since the wedding was abruptly called off on Saturday, hours before it was to begin.

YEAH RIGHT!

"She's doing well. She's absolutely fine," the friend, who answered Foster's cell phone on Sunday, told the New York Post. She said Foster, a 36-year-old divorced mother of three, has been communicating with Usher, 28, since Saturday. They are expecting a child together in the fall.

C'mon family, wouldn't it be better to admit that this is a challenging period and maybe ask that supporters keep them in prayer, or that fans allow them to work through some issues.

Instead we get, "They are still best friends. Why would anyone assume otherwise? People have assumed so much that was wrong about the relationship."

Nobody's disclosing where she is or whether the 18 month courtship is officially kaput!

On Sunday, crews drove up the winding driveway of music mogul L.A. Reid's 10,000-square-foot mansion in New York's Sagaponack, Long Island, ready to break down preparations for the lavish wedding, the Post reported.

It is believed the 70 to 100 guests, including Janet Jackson, Jermaine Dupri, Beyoncé and Jay-Z, were told just hours before the big event not to bother showing up, the Post said.

Although no official explanation was given, it is believed Usher's mother and former manager, Jonnetta Patton, did not approve of Foster (his former stylist who was a divorced mother of three), and had not been invited to the wedding.

A National Enquirer story, leaked just days before the planned nuptials and on newstands now, quoted Foster's half-sister saying the bride-to-be was an ex-con who had done time for petty theft.

Usher is soon expected to release the follow-up to his eight-million selling, Grammy-winning album "Confessions," released in 2005. He also has a fragrance due out in September.

Usher and Tameka are expecting a child together in January, but no word if they still remain engaged. Foster has three children with her first husband.

There is no confirmation if its a case of cold feet or perhaps Tameka decided to be a “runaway bride”, but there have been rumors that Usher’s mother wasn’t happy about the union. Usher even went to the extent to fire his mother as his manager. Then there was the rumor of a prenuptial agreement not being requested by Usher, making for even more drama.
