A white German dollmaker has added a 14-inch (36-centimeter) Barak Obama, complete with pale blue tie and Stars & Stripes lapel pin, to his lineup in honor of the U.S. Democratic presidential nominee. Can you say lawn jockey?
Marcel Offermann says the Obama doll’s black suit and sky-blue tie resemble the outfit he has worn in many of his campaign appearances.
Never mind that the only resemblance is that the doll's skin color matches Barry's purple, cigarette stained lips.
Offermann’s Puppenklinik shop is selling a limited run of 999 Obama dolls online for euro139 (US$219) each.
Puppenklinik has a history of honoring public figures with dolls including the late Princess of Wales, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Pope Benedict XVI. The dollmaker is based in Neuss, Germany.
So much for the biracial senator from Illinois being seen as anything other than BLACK. In every sense of the word.Let's be clear, there are brothers who resemble this otherwise very well made doll. But this is yet another reason why I'm boarding the Obama express. File under "Why some folks just don't get it."
