AMERICA IS DIVIDED OVER ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION: WHERE DO YOU STAND?
The latest public opinion polls out seem to suggest that Americans are more open to a plan Congress has proposed to deal with the immigration crisis than they are opposed.
That plan includes a temporary-guest worker program and provisions to legalize the nation's estimated 12 million illegal immigrants.
In a Washington Post-ABC News poll released today, 52 percent of Americans said they would support a program giving illegal immigrants the right to stay and work in the United States if they pay a fine and meet other requirements.
Opposition to that proposal was 44 percent. And the reason folks are opposed is because we know promises about the proposals implementation and follow-up will ultimately be broken.
We still can't get Iraq and Katrina right -- why would this be any different folks?
