TAYLOR KEEPS TITLE - NO ALI, SUGAR RAY OR EVEN FLOYD MAYWEATHER
Taylor Keeps Middleweight Title In Split Decision
MEMPHIS — Little Rock native Jermain Taylor won the fight but lost the support and enthusiasm of the not-far-from-hometown fans Saturday night at FedEx Forum, retaining the WBC and WBO middleweight title with a split-decision victory against St. Louis' Cory Spinks.
Taylor (27-0-1, 18 KOs) and Spinks (36-4, 11 KOs) spent most of their fight hearing boos from the crowd, mainly because the fight was anticlimactic and seen as a yawner after Kelly Pavlik's total destruction of Edison Miranda in the co-main event.
