SHARPTON! A BIGOT?!?!

PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE ACCUSES FORMER PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE OF BIGOTRY

FORT DODGE, Iowa — Mitt Romney criticized comments made by the Al Sharpton about Mormonism and his candidacy, calling the remarks proof that “bigotry still exists in some corners.”

As Romney, who is a Mormon, campaigned, reporters sought his reaction to what Rev Al had said during a debate on atheism and religious beliefs with columnist Christopher Hitchens, the author of a new book, “God is Not Great: How Religion Poisons Everything,”

“As for the one Mormon running for office, those that really believe in God will defeat him anyway, so don’t worry about that,” said Mr. Sharpton. “That’s a temporary situation.”

Some called on Mr. Sharpton to apologize, but the activist refused to back down, asserting that he was not implying that Mormons did not believe in God.
