James Brown Flash: The Godfather's A Father One Mo 'Gain!
Time To Stop Singing "The Kid Is Not My Son"
This is no big surprise and just part of settling the estate of the late soul legend James Brown, and the distribution of future royalties to come.
The Godfather of Soul was often seen with Tomi Raye Hyne. Stevie Wonder could see that he fathered that boy. It was common knowledge!
As time passes, the problems arise as others also claim to be his spawn.
But this solidifies "common-law" Tomi Raye's consistent claim to Godfather James' estate. It also means that all of you nasty people (Rev. Al Sharpton, among others) who treated Tomi Raye so horribly at James' funeral owe her a big apology.So give it up.
She may not be wearing a wedding ring but she was obviously doing a lot of the other things a wife does.

JAMES BROWN'S DEATH ONE YEAR LATER
It has been exactly one year since we lost James Brown, Soul Brother Number One, The Godfather of Soul. We truly miss him.
My favorite childhood Christmas Eve Memory is of my Old Man, Mr. Jim, turning off all the lights except for the Christmas lights and putting on a stack of 45's, (those are small vinyl records folks) all of them Christmas soul music and him dancing with with my mom in the middle of the family room floor as the kids just looked on. It was their moment.
My favorite song was James Browns' "Santa Clause go Straight to the Ghetto." That was our cue that the kids could get up and dance. I could not find a video of that song but I did find Faith Evan's tribute to another James Brown classic Christmas hit. Enjoy!

SINGER JAMES BROWN'S MESSY LIFE, EVEN AFTER DEATH
Court-appointed special administrators have told a South Carolina judge that a former trustee of the late James Brown's finances may have misappropriated up to $7 million, according to the Associated Press.
In court yesterday, the judge allowed the late soul singer's heirs to pursue those claims and also ordered the trustee, David Cannon, to pay back $370,000 in addition to the $350,000 the man paid last month.
The court also allowed the attorney generals for South Carolina and Georgia to advocate for needy children who are supposed to benefit from a charity Brown had established, the "I Feel Good" trust.
Sonny Jones, a South Carolina assistant attorney general, announced: "We want to make sure that any money that is supposed to go to that trust will go to that trust and be properly administered."
According to the AP, the judge did not hear a motion from a Houston woman (who says she is Brown's daughter) requesting that all of Brown's children who are named in Brown's will take a paternity test.
LaRHONDA LAPETIT says she has taken a paternity test that proves she is Brown's child.

Luciano Pavarotti And James Brown Are Both In Heaven Now Singing "This Is A Man's World"
Italian Soul Brother Luciano Pavarotti Is Dead at 71Pavarotti, who underwent surgery in New York for pancreatic cancer in 2006, passed away at his home in Modena, Italy today. We will miss this incredible talent!
What, Black folks can't be into opera???
The bearded Italian tenor, who sold more than 100 million records, had a clarion lyric voice that made him a pop icon and the most famous opera singer since Enrico Caruso.
King of tenors from the late 1960s through the 1990s, Pavarotti was the original overweight lover. He popularized opera more than any other singer through recordings that made him the best-selling classical artist ever, consistently selling out concerts in parks and stadiums around the world.
You have been promoted Mr. Pavarotti. Job well done!

CNN'S Don Lemon Did A Great Job On That James Brown Piece, Now I Want The Real Thing
Okay, I might be on the late freight, but I just finished watching the CNN story about James Brown and thoroughly enjoyed it. If you caught the one hour special, by all means tell us what you thought.One thing I didn't know was that Bootsy Collins played back-up for Brown before he and his crew blew up. Of course that made me want to hear some vintage Bootsy:
The other thing I hadn't thought about was when Chuck D mentioned that on his birth certificate, he's referred to as a Negro.
I immediately went to check mine and sure enough, it said Negro as well. For some reason, that really got me thinking how much we have gone through as a people -- even in terms of what we've called ourselves over the years.
Well, that's was a nice stroll down memory lane. And how was your Sunday?

Over A Dozen Claim To Be The Godfather's Spawn, Only Two Lucky Winners... So Far
TMZ is reporting that James "Say It Loud, I'm Black And I'm Proud" Brown was named the baby daddy of two more children on yesterday. That brings this rooster's total to eight, and counting.
Soul brother number one publicly acknowledged six children, but new DNA testing revealed that LaRhonda Petitt, and another unidentified individual are also Brown's kids.Petitt, who was interviewed by the Augusta Chronicle, is 45-years-old -- the oldest of Brown's identified children.
She revealed that Brown picked her mother out of a Los Angeles audience and the two began dating, but that James Brown split when he found out about the pregnancy. Said Petitt, "I was angry that he was out there making all this money, and he wasn't doing anything for my mother and me. I could have had a better life."
Several people (money-seekers) have claimed to be Brown's babies, but so far, only two have been positively identified as the late, great Black "Sex Machine's" seed.
