Detroit City Council has justed voted 5-4 to begin a process aimed at removing Mayor Kwmae Kilpatrick from office. They will try to take out hizzoner on three fronts: Kicking Kilpatrick out of the office themselves, asking Gov. Jennifer Granholm to do it and publicly censuring him.
Council members debated Monday on the three options and asked their attorney, William Goodman, to draft resolution language on forfeiture proceedings, which they approved late Monday afternoon.

Council members say they were not aware of that agreement when they approved an $8.4 million settlement of a whistle-blowers' lawsuit last October.
