Chris Brown Confesses He Learned How To Beat A Woman At Home

One year ago Chris Brown was on the Tyra Banks Show. In this interview Chris confesses that as a child he witnessed his stepfather physically beating his mother. It led to him bed wetting ( from fear of what he would see if he got out of the bed) and a host of other problems. He also foreshadows his opinion on domestic violence... should we have seen this coming?

October is Breast Cancer & Domestic Violence Awareness

OK, October is not only the month we see so all those orange and black colors in celebration for Halloween. This month we will also see a lot of Pink to bring attention to Breast Cancer Awareness Month and right next to it we will see a lot of Purple ribbons as it is also Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Check under the hood for sites and events.

The National Breast Cancer Awareness Month was founded in 1985, by breast cancer drug manufacturer AstraZeneca, provider of Arimidex and Tamoxifen. The famous Pink Ribbon was established as the symbol of fighting against breast cancer by Evelyn Lauder, Senior Corporate Vice President of Estée Lauder Companies. The cosmetics company also founded the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. For More Info Check Out : Breast Cancer Info Guide and their article, "Breast Cancer In Black Woman"

Interesting fact: while breast cancer affects one in eight women, as previously mentioned, domestic violence affects one in three. In the whole of the U.S., the state of Nevada has the highest number of women killed by men. Thus, Carson Street will be adorned with purple decorations as well as pink. Advocates to End Domestic Violence offer, among other services, a 24-hour crisis hot line. According to their official website, www.aedv.org, Advocates to End Domestic Violence was founded in 1979 by two battered women as they saw that a need for such an organization was desperate in Carson City. The Chicago Defender has a great article on Black women and Violence.
Also check out these links: http://www.betweenfriendschicago.org/
, or http://www.ncadv.org/

The campaigns will include the traditional pink and purple ribbons, teddy bears and other promotional materials, but also the fundraising walks which usually are 39 miles long. AEDV also features a “Paper the Town” campaign, where people can help adorn the town with informational materials and a local fundraising campaign, “Fill a Can, Feed a Family.”

Did The Makeup Make Him Do It???

Sidebar: The Real Issue Is His Addictions

Crossdresser and former Chicago Bulls badboy Dennis Rodman has been charged with spousal abuse, brandishing a deadly weapon and trying to dissuade a witness in connection with a domestic violence incident involving his girlfriend at a Century City hotel in April.

"His girlfriend of four years sustained visible physical injuries," said Nick Velasquez, the city attorney's spokesman.

A one-time Los Angeles Laker, Detroit Piston and Bulls rebounder, Rodman must appear in court May 22 even though the three charges are misdemeanors because he is a defendant in a domestic violence case. Expect to have the court impose a restraining order as a condition of remaining out on bail. If convicted, he'll be required to attend a domestic violence course, pay a large fine, probation for at least 3 years, and prohibition from gun possession for years to come. We won't even talk about jail time, which you can be sure prosecutors will be demanding!

Having worked with these types of cases, the real issue here is addiction, most likely drugs and alcohol, but I would not rule out sex addiction as well!

The incident took place April 30 at the Intercontinental Hotel, where police arrested the 47-year-old African American baller at about 10:15 p.m. Officers said Rodman hit a woman who sustained injuries to her arms.

Bishop Thomas Weeks Mans Up (Finally) And Tells The World The Truth: Yeah, I Beat Her!

You Know The Prophetess Saw This Coming

The husband of televangelist Juanita Bynum pleaded guilty yesterday to assaulting her, was sentenced to three years' probation and then turned to her and apologized.

On Monday, the couple saw each other for the first time in months, when Bynum appeared at Weeks' divorce lawyer's office to be deposed in that case. She said the meeting was emotional."When I saw him, it allowed me to reflect on the first time we got married," Bynum said. "I thought about the time wasted and the time lost, and I said, `This has got to stop.'"

Thomas W. Weeks III, a minister known to his followers as Bishop Weeks, turned after his sentencing to address Bynum, who sat in the second row of the Fulton County courtroom gallery."I want to apologize to my wife for all she's had to go through," he said.Bynum nodded in response and quietly thanked him.

Weeks must undergo violence and anger counseling and complete 200 hours of community service that cannot be church-related. He had been barred previously from communicating with Bynum, but that restriction has been lifted. His record will be cleared if he completes the terms of his sentence.

"I don't believe my husband is a criminal," said Bynum, a former hairdresser and flight attendant who became a Pentecostal evangelist, author and gospel singer. Weeks is the founder of Global Destiny churches.

The couple wed in a million-dollar, televised ceremony in 2002 and together wrote "Teach Me How to Love You: The Beginnings."Bynum filed for divorce from Weeks a month after the attack, citing "cruel treatment" and saying the marriage was "irretrievably broken." Since then, the two or their lawyers have issued a series of conflicting statements about the initial incident and the couple's travails.

Death Of Donda West: The More We Hear About Kanye's Mom's Plastic Surgeon, The More Disturbing The Case!

Is Doctor Jan Adams The Victim Of Character Assassination, Or Does This Brotha Have Issues???

Would someone please tell TMZ to let go of Dr. Jan Adams ass! Like a relentless pit bull, the online website is just slamming this Black doctor every which way but loose.

Donda West Died From Either Surgery of Anesthesia

Today's installment involves accusations from Jan's ex-wife, claiming physical abuse. According to court documents obtained by TMZ, as well as a restraining order filed by Susie Field, former wife of music mogul turned movie producer Ted Field, Thanksgiving Day last year was stuffed with drama. On November 23, 2006, Dr. Adams allegedly became upset with Susie for taking a phone call during dinner. Susie claims, "He wanted to speak to whomever was calling me."They began arguing and went up to the bedroom. According to the document, Dr. Adams was yelling, "I'm going to f**king kill you. I'm going to beat you. You need to be beaten."

Susie claims Dr. Adams then "swung his right closed fist at my face...he attacked me," adding, [Dr. Adams] grabbed me with one arm and threw me toward the bed..." Susie claims there was another incident in September 2005 while they were at a New York nightclub. The former Mrs. Adams indicated that Jan became angry because another man was looking at her. When they returned to the hotel, he became "angry, threw me on the bed and began to strangle me. I thought I was going to die as he strangled me to the point of almost blacking out." Two days after the judge granted the restraining order in November 2006, Susie filed for divorce. They were married less than 12 months, with the divorce becoming final in February, 2007.

Insisting today that he is not to blame for Dr. Donda West's shocking death after plastic surgery, this has not been a good year for the good doctor. As experts have noted, while complications are always an issue, what happened to Kanye's mom is extremely rare. Of course when you add that to what we finding out about Jan Adams, it clearly is putting him more and more in that O.J. Simpson light. We're just saying!

Juanita "Face Of Domestic Violence" Bynum Had Her Chance To Speak, Now Bishop Thomas W. Weeks III Opens Up!

I appreciate the (crazy-ass) comments shared by my wife (talking about she's the face and name of domestic violence... please) on yesterday and likewise share my forgiveness towards her and wish her all the best (after I finish giving her one last beatdown).

I also have had time to reflect on the (liens, judgments, financial problems and other...) events of the last two weeks. And I would encourage all who have already judged me to be aware that there are two sides to every story (and trust me, ya girl "The Prophetess" ain't all that!).

Because I initially believed this was a private matter (between a batterer and his victim), I refrained from making any public statements about the situation. Even during the negative (albeit truthful and accurate) press coverage and media hype that has surrounded this case, my legal counsel has recommended that I (never) reveal my side of what happened that Tuesday night only at the appropriate time.

Nevertheless, one thing I would like to make very clear to all who will listen, is to share my sincerest apologies to the every Christian, and especially to the Global Destiny Church Family, Sons, Daughters and Partners for having to endure this ordeal (as to Juanita, to hell with her).

Because of the method in which this was handled just hours following the situation, it has not only hurt me (in the wallet), but has damaged the reputation of Christians around the world.

It is for this reason, that I continue to trust in God while the storm would try to engulf me. Finally, I'm asking every Christian to pray that God's will be done (and I be convicted before redemption and healing can begin).

The Web 2.0 Version Of Evangelist Juanita Bynum: "Today, Domestic Violence Has A Face And A Name"

"I came here tonight to declare that I can bear it,
I can bear it, I can bear it."

Initially left feeling weak and helpless, national Pentecostal evangelist Juanita Bynum, 48, went public with her pain Tuesday, sharing yet another chapter in her tumultuous life story.

The tough-talking pastor, who has survived a divorce, a nervous breakdown and life on welfare, broke her silence two weeks after her second husband, Bishop Thomas W. Weeks III, 41, allegedly beat, stomped and choked her in a hotel parking lot. The two co-founded the Global Destiny International Center in Duluth, Georgia in 2006 but had recently seperated.

Weeks is out of jail on a $40,000 bond for the assault. He is due back in court later this week.

Bynum appeared Tuesday as a special guest on TBN's "Praise The Lord", a Christian cable talk show. On the program, Bynum said she had no bitterness toward her man and would not speak unkindly towards him.

"Nobody could give me enough money," she said. "As long as he's my husband I won't break that covenant."

Also on the show, the self-proclaimed "Prophetess" said the church would help people by preaching more about personal experiences such as her own.

"Today, domestic violence has a face and a name and it is Juanita Bynum," said the female pastor. Bynum said she was speaking about the incident Tuesday because she didn't want her fans or colleagues to view her as a "damsel in distress."

Bynum initially had planned her news conference at TBN but changed the location to the InterContinental Hotel in Buckhead. She stood poised with her hands clasped in front of her, wearing baggy jeans and a pink Daytona Beach sweatshirt. A diamond wedding band sparkled — from her right hand.

Wed in an elaborate ceremony in 2002, Bynum would not speak about the future of her marriage to Weeks. "Relationships are what they are, [they] have their difficult moments," she said. "... This has changed my life forever," Bynum stated. "First, I want to go on record and say I forgive my husband and I wish him all of the best."

That's code for I'm outta there. Divorce papers are being drawn-up as we speak -- trust us!

Born in Chicago, Juanita Bynum was reared in the charismatic Church of God in Christ, a denomination that has a history of female evangelists. She married in her early 20s but within a few years divorced. After years of moving from being a beautician to a Pan Am flight attendant to joblessness and food stamps, she came into the Pentecostal ministry.

She gained popularity nationwide more than a decade ago for...

Bynum Files For Divorce! Read Here!

JUANITA BYNUM TO APPEAR ON CABLE TONIGHT!

Prophetess Juanita Bynum is scheduled to appear exclusively on TBN tonight at 7 p.m. PST. I predict that this will be one of the highest ratings on TBN ever. In the meantime, MORE BREAKING NEWS:

Just less that two weeks after the much reported incident, Bishop T.D. Jakes of the Potter's House out of Dallas, Texas and well-known associate of Prophetess Juanita Bynum and Bishop Thomas Weeks III, has finally said something about the mess that we know as the Weeks/Bynum divorce-gone-bad. Better Late than Never. Here is an excert:

Domestic Abuse is Unholy: Church must fight against it, not as a judge but as a protector

By T.D. Jakes for the Journal-Constitution

As I have watched the events surrounding ministers Juanita Bynum and Thomas Weeks, whom I have known for many years, I, like most, am concerned and saddened.

My wife, Serita, and I, as well as the entire Potter's House family, are deeply concerned and have expressed that concern through personal contact the moment we were made aware. Those most familiar with our ministry know that I have been a longtime advocate and tireless fighter against domestic violence.

However pained we all may be, perhaps this is a teaching opportunity to awaken us to the fact that thousands of women are beaten and many killed by someone who says they love them. I have personally lost many women in my city, some in my church and several in my family to this heinous problem.

Churches can acknowledge domestic violence by doing plays, holding candlelight services, developing support groups, etc. Secrets thrive in silence, and isolation causes many to remain silently and secretly abused.

Realize that while some women have the resources to leave, many others stay simply because they feel they have nowhere else to go. A report released in 1990 stated that there were 1,500 shelters for battered women in the United States. Yet there were 3,800 animal shelters, almost double the number for women and their children.

This must be fixed, as some women go home or become homeless as they feel that they have nowhere to go but back into harm's way with their children in tow.

The faith community has to come out of shock and realize that knowing the Bible may make you a strong Christian or a great speaker but that doesn't necessarily mean that it is the only resource we can draw from or work with to help those in our pews who suffer in silence.

Many of our parishioners and even our clergy may not have good family skills, coping mechanisms or conflict resolution training.

We must realize that none of us are experts and excellent at everything. And encouraging people to change their lives and provide them with good information is vitally important.

Because so many of us look to our churches for guidance and direction for everything, churches must acquaint themselves with ways we can assist or refer them to help. Prayer is a good starting point, but this is a problem where wise and fair actions are needed.

In all fairness to Bishop Jakes, while I am very happy that he finally came out and attempted to provide a more substantive statement, was it good enough? What I mean is...

Bishop Thomas Weeks Loses His Queen, His Bling, And Now His Church?

Jesus Take The Wheel, It's Gonna Be A
Bumpy Ride For Juanita Bynum's Stalker Pastor

When a Fulton County grand jury indicted the husband of national evangelist Juanita Bynum for what "The Prophetess" said was an attack on her, neither her nor the black mega-church minister probably imagined that he would now be looking at a maximum possible sentence of 27 years on lockdown.

Thomas Weeks III, 41, faces one count of aggravated assault, one count of terroristic threats and two counts of simple battery in connection with the Aug. 22 incident outside an Atlanta hotel. Weeks fled the scene before police arrived, but later told members of his congregation the devil had been responsible for his actions.

Apparently it’s going to take more than blaming Satan to get the bishop off the hook with authorities. And now, bill collectors.

Court documents show that before moving to Duluth, Georgia, Weeks led a ministry in Washington, D.C. called, Center of Hope Community Development Corporation. Court records reveal a $63,000 judgment against Weeks from copier giant, Xerox Corporation, a $22,000 judgment against Weeks from jewelry store Tiffany and Company, a $13,000 judgment from a credit card company and a $6,000 judgment from Ford Motor Credit. In total, there is more than $100,000 in judgments against Weeks. Three of the creditors say Weeks still has not paid the debt.

When the Black Jim and Tammy Faye Baker moved to Duluth in early 2006, they began leasing a $2.5 million home with six bedrooms in the St. Marlo golf community in Forsyth County. Earlier this summer in June, a court gave the order to serve an eviction notice after the power couple separated three months ago. And Weeks could still be close to losing the church he built with his just as culpable wife.

An attorney representing the landlord for Global Destiny Church in Duluth said Friday that Weeks had received several notices that he was in violation of his lease agreement for the church for nonpayment of funds. GrimesSquare Executive Inc. proceeded with an eviction lawsuit when the matter was not resolved within its timeline.

Bynum's New Message, "Movin' Off Front Street!"

“I wrote the letter to comply with the law,” said Stephanie Friese, attorney for GrimeSquare Executive. “I am sure they did others.” According to court records, Friese backed up the threat of eviction on Aug. 23. She filed a lawsuit against Weeks in Gwinnett County Civil Court that started eviction proceedings “for the non-payment of rent,” Friese said.

An out-of-court deal was reached Friday to stop the eviction proceedings against Global Destiny, Friese said.“This morning the parties reached an agreement,” he said. “The settlement document has already been signed.”

Friese would not discuss whether GrimeSquare Executive received full payment for the church’s rent and other fees under the lease or whether Weeks was put on a payment plan. The bishop continued to have church services there. The church is located at 4830 Rivergreen Parkway in Duluth.

“If he complies with the terms of the settlement, he will be able to remain in possession,” she said.

THIS IS A TOSS-UP: SHOULD WE REFER TO THOMAS WEEKS AS BISHOP, OR MIKE TYSON???

"Enough" Starring Jennifer Lopez as Evangelist Juanita Bynum Is Where This Conversation Needs To Go!

The Continuing Battle Of Juanita Bynum & Thomas Weeks III Delivers A Punch To The Pulpit

Yesterday in the Courier-Journal of Louisville, Kentucky, columnist Bettye Baye' writes an insightful perspective on the larger issue of domestic violence and other glossed-over realities within the church as it relates to the latest developments of prophetess Bynum and Bishop Weeks III.

Here is an excerpt:
The beautiful bride of such recent memory was reportedly choked, kicked and stomped by Bishop Weeks, from whom she already was estranged, in the parking lot of a hotel near the Atlanta airport. A meeting reputedly intended to see whether the marriage could be patched up clearly went badly. A bellhop who saw the incident pulled Weeks off his wife.

The bishop, charged with aggravated assault, spent six hours in the Fulton County Jail before being released on $40,000 bond. If his wife sees the case through, she may deliver her greatest service and sermon to female followers.

Estimates are that anywhere from 950,000 to 3 million women are physically abused each day in America by so-called intimate partners. A 1998 survey found that nearly one-third of American women claimed to have been physically or sexually abused by an intimate partner sometime in their lives.

"It's happening in every ZIP code and every area code," said Denise Vazquez Troutman, president and CEO of the Center for Women and Families. The Center, which opened Kentucky's first domestic violence shelter for women in 1977, today has a 24-hour hot line and eight regional locations.

"Faith leaders," Troutman said, "must speak out against domestic violence," and should institute protocols within their own institutions that support victims and that support domestic violence shelters -- for example, by publishing hot line numbers and information about services for victims in bulletins and newsletters, and placing domestic violence literature in heavily traveled areas.

The aim, Troutman said, is "to create a faith community environment in which domestic violence isn't tolerated."

Ah, but there's the rub, according to...

El DeBarge Gets Three Hots And A Cot For Domestic Violence Arrest, Remains Jailed On Drug Charges

El Debarge of the famous R&B musical family clan "Debarge" is not quite feeling the rhythm of the night as he continues to sit in Los Angeles County's Men's Central Jail.

The biracial Gemini got popped on domestic violence charges Sunday in Lancaster, a lower end suburban community northeast of LA.

Vibe's "Rise and Fall of The Debarge Family"

Debarge, who made light-skinned, 'good-hair' pretty boys all the rage back in the day, remains on lockdown because he still has several outstanding warrants ranging from drugs to vandalism to driving with a suspended license.

The District Attorney's office has indicated that they will not proceed with the domestic violence charges due to insufficient evidence against the 46-year-old 80's crooner.

BREAKING: El DeBarge Turns Out The 2010 BET Awards

Obviously unable to post bail, El -- whose real name is Eldra, will stay behind bars until he sees the judge on the warrants scattered in various courts throughout the county.

And according to his booking information, the former brother-in-law to Janet Jackson may be hitting more than his partner.

At 5'9 and 130 pounds, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that rehab is clearly in this brother's fortune.

Bloggers who obviously know nothing about LA have been suggesting that El has been hooking for crack on "Sunset Strip".

News flash folks: women line Sunset Boulevard, men occupy Santa Monica Boulevard that goes through West Hollywood. With El fathering 10 KIDS (no, that's not a typo), he was probably on Santa Monica -- unless he's posing as a tranny!

UPDATE: CHICO DEBARGE GETS ARRESTED!

Rhymes With Snitch first broke the news of Debarge's unfortunate arrest.

FYI, did you know 'Debarge' the group was discovered by Jermaine Jackson, and their brother was one of the founding members of the music group 'Switch'?

Remember the jam "There'll Never Be" (Listen) / (Listen)

And finally, Mama DeBarge is writing a tell-all. Can't wait!

Bishop Thomas Weeks Thinks He's Ike & Juanita Bynum Is Anna Mae In "What's Love Got To Do With It?"

The estranged husband of televangelist Juanita Bynum turned himself in to police yesterday.

Bishop Thomas Weeks faces assault charges after a confrontation with her outside an Atlanta hotel reminiscent of what Tina Turner endured back in the day.

Bynum claimed her man went Ike Turner on her, knocking her down, kicking and repeatedly stomping her until a doorman came to her rescue and intervened.

Friday, a judge ordered Weeks to have no contact with Bynum.

After the hearing, Week's attorney said that his client remains hopeful that the couple will reconcile.

In a statement, Bynum says she continues to recover from her wounds. Self-named 'The Prophetess', Bynum has a national following based on her televised sermons on women's empowerment.

When Evangelist Juanita Bynum Has To Endure A Beatdown From A Brotha, You Know We're In Crisis

All That Glitters Ain't Gold Girlfriend

I couldn't believe what I saw on the news today concerning the well-known prophetess and evangelist Juanita Bynum.

The blogs and news sites in cyberspace are blowing up about the beating she received from her husband, Bishop Thomas W. Weeks, III, Tuesday evening in Atlanta. It is sad. It is unfortunate.

They have my prayers because the situation is volatile and embarrassing.Where do I begin?Just the other day I wrote a post that raised a few eyebrows entitled Does God Hate Black People? Does God Hate Black Women.

In this post, one of the things I reference is the role of the church in many Black people's lives. I mention that women who lead ministries can catch hell. I was not trying to prophecy! I was just talking about what I know to be true. How many pastors beat their wives? How many have been known to beat their wives and were allowed to get away with it due to who they were?

How many pastors have counseled wives to stay with husbands who were known to beat them? How many wives have lost their lives because of it?

Statement From Bishop Weeks

How much support is Juanita Bynum going to get from a predominantly male industry? It will be interesting to see.

While I no longer attend church on a regular basis, I left in part due to the overwhelming hypocrisy that takes place in the church.

I have been told that this was not a good reason to stop attending church. I was told that attending church dealt with my relationship between me and God and I needed the fellowship of believers. While I understand and appreciate the intent of such encouragement, I had to wake up and ask God for a life that was a function of spiritual truth. I got tired of so many people who seemed content with "playing church" without substantive spiritual authentic living.

Rumors And Speculation About Pastor Husband's Sexuality

This prayer led to my eventual departure from the church. I think God is awesome. I think - at times - it is man that is the "enemy" or the "devil."I've seen Christians do things to others that the average non-Christian might never do. My point? The Christian church now stands at the threshold of opportunity. It is time to be real about the flaws of those who lead within the church and for them to stand accountable just as regular church-going members are expected to be accountable. With most church leadership, especially pastors and their spouses, it is implied that they can essentially do no wrong.

Such thinking or the encouragement of such type of thinking is dangerous for people who are spiritually starving for enlightenment and the realization of who God is and suppose be for their lives.

I remember when Juanita Bynum got married back in 2002. The whole message was, "You too can have what I have, if you only wait, be patient, and trust God."

She had a very expensive wedding and two very expensive rings with several karats - one for each hand. It seemed more about bling and glitter than about the substance of the marriage - although I am sure that was desired.

I remember thinking whether or not Weeks could handle the fame and notoriety of his new bride. It appeared she was trying to...

Oh, you know our sister's got MORE>>>
