Nicole Richie: A Hungry, Healthy Mommy!
Sexy mama: Motherhood gives Nicole Richie's figure a boostNicole Richie looked just swell as she showed off her post-baby figure at the launch of her fiance's new clothing range.
Motherhood has clearly given the 26-year-old's formerly skinny figure a boost - she looked radiant in a tight sliver dress at the launch party for DCMA Collective in Los Angeles on Friday night.
The Simple Life star was supporting fiance Joel Madden, 29, who has just launched his first clothing line with his twin brother Benji.
And keeping it all in the family, Good Charlotte star Benji, brought along his new girlfriend - Paris Hilton, Nicole's best friend since childhood and her Simple Life co-star.
Nicole, who wore an "H" pendant around her neck, gave birth to Harlow Winter Kate Madden on January 11 but already looks toned enough to wear the most unforgiving material.
During recent years she has been through several figure transformations - from slender but curvy in the early series of The Simple Life to being painfully thin before her pregnancy.
She now appears to be in her element with her curvy but petite figure. But, like Christina Aguilera, who gave birth on the same day as Nicole, her cleavage has been given a welcome boost by motherhood.

Do Big Black Girls Like Queen Latifah & Jill Scott REALLY Rule???

CHICAGO (AP) — Being 25 pounds overweight doesn't appear to raise your risk of dying from cancer or heart disease, says a new government study that seems to vindicate Grandma's claim that a few extra pounds won't kill you.
Released just a few weeks before Thanksgiving, the findings might comfort some who can't seem to lose those last 15 pounds. And they hearten proponents of a theory that it's possible to be "fit and fat."The news isn't all good: Overweight people do have a higher chance of dying from diabetes and kidney disease. And people who are obese — generally those more than 30 pounds overweight for their height — have a higher risk of death from a variety of ills, including some cancers and heart disease.
However, having a little extra weight actually seemed to help people survive some illnesses — results that baffled several leading health researchers."Excess weight does not uniformly increase the risk of mortality from any and every cause, but only from certain causes," said the study's lead author Katherine Flegal, of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The study, which appears in Wednesday's Journal of the American Medical Association, analyzed the body-mass index of people who died from various diseases. In many cases, the risks of death were substantial for obese people — those with a body-mass index, or BMI, of at least 30. Also surprising was that overweight people were up to about 40 percent less likely than normal-weight people to die from several other causes including emphysema, pneumonia, injuries and various infections. The age group that seemed to benefit most from a little extra padding were people aged 25 to 59; older overweight people had reduced risks for these diseases, too.Why extra fat isn't always deadly and might even help people survive some illnesses is unclear and in fact disputed by ...

Stop Dogging Oprah For Gaining Weight: Our Hero Has Been Having A Health Crisis

Take Care Of Yourself Girlfriend, We Want You Around A Looong Time!
NEW YORK (AP)- Oprah Winfrey is going public about the thyroid condition that slowed down her metabolism and caused her to gain 20 pounds.
Winfrey, 53, was feeling incredibly sluggish by the time her talk show wrapped up its season in May. She eventually discovered the problem: an out-of-balance thyroid."My body was turning on me," she says in the October issue of O, the Oprah magazine. "First hyperthyroidism, which sped up my metabolism and left me unable to sleep for days. (Most people lose weight. I didn't.)"

"Then hypothyroidism, which slowed down my metabolism and made me want to sleep all the time. (Most people gain weight. I did! Twenty pounds!)"Hyperthyroidism can also cause a fast heartbeat, among other symptoms; hypothyroidism, the opposite condition, can result in fatigue and weakness.
Winfrey, exhausted and stressed, took a month-long break in Hawaii to regain her health.
Winfrey also discussed her thyroid condition on Tuesday's "Oprah" show, saying she "wanted so many other women who are going through the same thing to check on yourself and recognize that ... it's an issue we all share in common."She devoted the show to women's health issues and featured Dr. Christiane Northrup, author of "The Wisdom of Menopause."

FOLK WHO GET IT: PEOPLE WHO RECOMMIT TO HEALTH
Although Eddie Murphy, Tyler Perry and Martin Lawrence have made plenty of money off of perpetuating the images of the big Black woman with an attitude, the health issues relating to Black women are no laughing matter. An estimated 80% of Sistahs in America are overweight.
The Mayo Clinic has created something that will have even the laziest desk potato cringing in their running shoes.
Introducing the "vertical workstation" which is a desk fitted over a standard treadmill, and when 15 obese volunteers were asked to use the work station to measure calory loss, the results were incredible!
According to researchers, if an obese person used the desk every day for 1 year, they would lose up to 66lbs, or 30 kg.
The 15 obese volunteers lost an average of 100 calories per hour while walking at 1 mile per hour. "If obese individuals were to replace time spent sitting at the computer with walking computer time by 2 to 3 hours a day, and if other components of energy balance were constant, a weight loss of 20 to 30 kg a year could occur," the researchers wrote.
To look at other ways we can get fit, check out Celebrity Fit Club's Dr. Ian Smith's 50 million pound Challenge.
