An estimated 80% of Sistahs in America are overweight.
The Mayo Clinic has created something that will have even the laziest desk potato cringing in their running shoes.
Introducing the "vertical workstation" which is a desk fitted over a standard treadmill, and when 15 obese volunteers were asked to use the work station to measure calory loss, the results were incredible!
According to researchers, if an obese person used the desk every day for 1 year, they would lose up to 66lbs, or 30 kg.
The 15 obese volunteers lost an average of 100 calories per hour while walking at 1 mile per hour. "If obese individuals were to replace time spent sitting at the computer with walking computer time by 2 to 3 hours a day, and if other components of energy balance were constant, a weight loss of 20 to 30 kg a year could occur," the researchers wrote.
