Comic-Con A Convention of Geeks Finally Getting Hot Women They Deserve

The Comic-Con Convention is next week in San Diego, California. I am vindicated and will definitely be there.

Spiderman has produced three $100 million dollar movies, and Superman has four. Every three years the X-Men series revitalizes Halle Berry's career, not to mention Fantastic Four. Currently, two of the top movies for 2008 are Iron Man and The Hulk.

As a teenager I was laughed at, ridiculed and girls didn't take my comic book collecting as sexy or sign of maturity. Ladies, how ya' like me now! Get the full schedule at Comic-Con.

WHY BLACK FOLK'S LOVE OF CREAM OF WHEAT JUST GOT A LITTLE STRONGER

Serving Up Recognition For The 'Cream of Wheat' Brother

Frank L. White died on February 15, 1938, his grave bearing only a tiny concrete marker with no name.

This week, a granite gravestone was placed at his burial site bearing his name and an etching taken from the man depicted on the Cream of Wheat box.

Jesse Lasorda, a family researcher, started the campaign to put the marker and etching on White's grave in Leslie, Michigan.

Lasorda discovered that White was born about 1867 in Barbados, came to the U.S. in 1875 and became a citizen in 1890.

When White died, the local newspaper described him as a ''famous chef'' who ''posed for an advertisement of a well-known breakfast food.''

White lived in Leslie, and the story of his posing for the Cream of Wheat picture was known in the city of 2,000 located between Jackson and Lansing and about 70 miles west of Detroit.

While the man depicted in the 1900 photographed did not have his name recorded, he was employed at a Chicago restaurant. White was a Black chef, traveled a lot, was about the right age as the Cheshire cat smiling brother on the box.

Given that White told neighbors he was the Cream of Wheat model, it's a safe bet that this lasting image of excellence in culinary art likely belongs to him.

IS LAW BANNING SAGGING PANTS REALLY TARGETING BLACK BOYS?

Don't Sag Your Pants If You Can't Do The Time

Never mind all the problems the state of Louisiana is facing, overly saggy britches are obscene and we're not gonna take it anymore!

The Town of Delcambre has been "exposed" after an African American politico proposed banning sagging pants.

Passed unanimously, perpetrators in this Cajun-country town of about 2,000 could be fined up to 500 dollars and serve up to six months in jail for violating the indecent exposure ordinance.

Police Chief James Broussard's public advice for people who like their pants to hang low: "Just wear it properly. Cover your vital parts. I mean, if you expose your private parts, you'll get a fine. If you walk up and your pants drop, you get a fine."

While several residents objected that the law unfairly targets Black folks, Chief Broussard denied any racial motives. "White people wear sagging pants, too. Anybody who wears these pants should be held responsible."

But low-hanging, baggy pants are so mainstream now. Initially for young brothers trying to get their hip-hop swagger on, the fashion statement has since gone global with skateboarders, rockers, and those in a constant state of rebellion.

"I don't know if it will do any good, but it won't hurt," said Delcambre Councilman Albert Roy, who introduced the ordinance. "It's obvious, and anybody with common sense can see your parts when you wear sagging pants."

Roy, however, did take issue with the large fine amount. "A $500 fine is outrageous: "I think it should be something like $25."

The meeting Monday night packed the small trailer that has been Town Hall since Hurricane Rita swept in six feet of storm surge on Sept. 24, 2005.

Family, doesn't that really say it all?

COME ON DOWN BOB BARKER - THE ORIGINAL WHITE MACK DADDY

Fans Fired Up For 'The Price Is Right' Farewell

Blacks, Whites, Latinos, Asians - it doesn't matter. Straight or gay, Democrat or Republican, everyone has crazy love for Bob Barker.

For folks who traveled across the country and slept on the sidewalk outside CBS Television City, this was their day—the day of Barker's last "Price is Right."

Die-hard fans huddled in sleeping bags for days to say goodbye to the always dapper eighty-three year old. Melanie Zepeda Velez, 32, traveled from Alberta, Canada. "I'm here because I need to kiss Bob," she said.

Barker's long run on the show has inspired many traditions. Most female contestants kiss him on the cheek. Members of the military wear their uniforms. Back in the day, Black people would actually call each other and talk at family gatherings whenever a brother or a sistah was the showcase winner.

This was pre Flava Flav and Miss New York, family. Okay now we're showing our age!

Exuberant fans have always been part of "The Price Is Right," which selects about 12 audience members out of 325 seated in each show to play for prizes ranging from a grandfather clock to lavish vacations and car packages.

"He's part of American culture." said Mark Dub, a NASA engineer who flew from Houston. Barker's final show is slated to air on June 15.

The silver-haired icon, who has hosted the game show for 35 years, plans to officially begin his retirement Thursday. His replacement has yet to be announced.

IT WON'T BE THE HILTON

Paris Gets 45 Days in Jail

This might be a good time for Paris Hilton to try and take up reading, because a judge just threw the book at her.

A Los Angeles Superior Court judge on Friday sentenced Hilton -- the rich, beautiful hotel heiress who has turned robo-nightclubbing, zealous self-indulgence and vapid reality TV catchphrases ("That's hot") into a lucrative industry -- to 45 days in jail Friday for violating her probation. Hilton starts her sentence June 5 at a women's jail in suburban Lynwood.

The sentencing will no doubt reverberate throughout Hollywood, where it's often assumed that rich, A-list celebs can get their lawyers to speed-dial them out of trouble for minor brushes with the law.

Hilton is headed to jail and will not be allowed any work release, furloughs, use of an alternative jail or electronic monitoring in lieu of jail, Superior Court Judge Michael T. Sauer ruled after a hearing.

The only downside we can find in all this is that work-suit orange is probably going to be kind of a nice color for her.

Celine Dion To Team Up With 'Virtual' Elvis Presley

Beyond the grave, the hip-shakin', stealin' moves from Black folks legend will perform with Dion at the special 'Idol Gives Back' charity event tonight to sing 'If I Can Dream'.

Remaining 'Idol' contestants will join Celine and Elvis as backing singers. The finalists will also perform 'American Prayer' - a song written by Bono and Dave Stewart to raise awareness about AIDS in Africa.

The special two-hour show, which will raise money to fight poverty in the US and Africa, will also feature former 'A.I.' winners Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood, Gwen Stefani, Pink, Hugh Grant, Keira Knightley, Jack Black, Helen Mirren, Annie Lennox and Wind and Fire.
