FOLKS WHO GET IT: RICH VOICED ACTOR, POET FADES OUT

Roscoe Lee Browne, whose dignified bearing brought him an Emmy Award and a Tony nomination, died Wednesday following a long battle with cancer. He was 81.

With a career that ranged from classic theater to TV cartoons, on screen, his character often was smart, cynical nd well-educated - whether a congressman, a doctor or a butler.

Born May 2, 1925, to a Baptist minister in Woodbury, N.J., Browne graduated from historically black Lincoln University in Pennsylvania, where he later returned to teach comparative literature and French.

In addition to being an actor, he was a poet and an athlete - winning a 1951 world championship in the 800-yard dash.
You've been promoted for your memorable performances Mr. Browne. Bravo!
