Sean John Line Confronts Racism With "Black Only" Models At New York's Fashion Week

Diddy Raises Symbolic Fist On The Catwalk During Black History Month

Sean "Diddy" Combs is a mess, that we know. The former Howard University brotha is also smart, shrewed and clearly conscious, returning to New York fashion Week Friday night with a runway show that's got everybody talking. The full-fledged over-the-top presentation began with the dramatic act of raising three chandeliers into the air at the upscale Cipriani club.

From there, it just got better. This season marks the 10th anniversary of Combs' Sean John label and he celebrated with mostly grown-up clothes, mostly suits, in fact, instead of the super-casual urban styles that have made the brand famous. Check out the models and the clothes under the hood.

In his notes, Combs paid homage to the great African American designers who came before him, including Willi Smith, Patrick Kelly, Karl Kani, Byron Lars, Stephen Burrows, Patrick Robinson and Tracy Reese.

"My being here is a direct result of their hard word and dedication, which is such an inspiration. They never saw limits or boundaries, only possibilities," Combs wrote.

The all-black cast of models wore styles that actually translated many of the fall season's women's trends into menswear. Tyson Beckford closed with show in a boucle double-breasted jacket with fur trim.

The collection also included flashes of purple, sequins on otherwise casual sweaters, and asymmetrical jackets with exposed zipper details.

The hardest look for men to pull off would be the layers: half-length sweaters or blazers with long sweaters underneath worn with skinny pants. The key to the success probably lies with Combs himself. If he wears it - and gets his superstar friends to wear it - then it has a chance.

When Combs came out for his bow, though, he opted for a three-piece suit. [AP]

Sean Diddy Combs Pompus Celebrity or Victim

Hip Hop artist and Rap singers are (pardon the similarity) "notorious" for being in the middle of public altercations. Shootings, fights, knives drawn and shots ringing out are part of the norm for them, right? But is it the artist themselves creating this mess or are people drawn to instigate something with a celeb in hopes of a big pay day. Celebs are always paying out money to keep stories out of the papers or out of court. Case in point, this weeks court case against Hip Hop artist and fashion mogul Sean Diddy Combs. Sean is accused of shoving, punching and spitting on a bar patron after last years Academy Awards, for "no reason at all."

Four eyewitnesses support a man's assertion that Sean "Diddy" Combs assaulted him and his girlfriend at a post-Oscar party at a Hollywood nightclub last year, according to court papers filed by the plaintiff's attorney.

Marianna Ruiz, one of the witnesses deposed by an attorney for Gerard Rechnitzer, said in papers filed Wednesday that the rap and fashion mogul struck Rechnitzer unprovoked.

"I just kind of remember seeing him go flying, not flying as in like feet off the ground, but he went back significantly," said Ruiz, who was part of a group at the club with the Rechnitzer. "I was just in shock that somebody would just kind of strike somebody out of nowhere."

Of course Diddy has his own take on this and you can read the rest of this story and see his side of the story on video at Access Hollywood. In the mean time check out how Diddy handles his business at home.
