Brad & Angelina Officially Jump The Broom? NOT!

Save Your Congrats For Mr & Mrs. Smith... Ummm, Pitt!

Rumors that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie got hitched earlier Saturday, March 29, in New Orleans have turned out to be false. All that wondering over whether Jennifer Anniston sent a gift or not was a complete waste of time!

Jolie, who is pregnant with twins, has been dating Pitt since 2005. The couple share four children together: Maddox, 6; Pax, 4; Zahara, 3; and Shiloh, 1. If Zahara's parents ever do decide to wed, it will be Angelina's third marriage and Brad's second. [Fox]

BRAD AND ANGELINA TAKING UP THE KATRINA FIGHT AND MAKING SUCCESSFUL BLACK FOLKS LOOK BAD

Why is it that I am happy Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are taking the lead in helping out that rebuilding mess down in New Orleans? But their mere presence points to the lack of a similar continued presence by affluent, and well off Black folks.

QUEEN LATIFAH AND HOLLYWOOD ARE GOING SOUTH, Y'ALL

YESTERDAY IN A BEVERLY HILLS RESTAURANT… I was talking with Queen Latifah… well, okay, it was actually her hair stylist and producer friend Julie Baker… and she mentioned to me that Dana (aka Queen Latifah) was heading back to Louisiana.
“For what?” I inquired. (We at 3BAAS/Candleblack Media always ask very deep and penetrating questions.) “For another film shoot,” Julie answered.

What in the past has been a marginal Hollywood story is now becoming a center page item: Film productions are moving out of Hollywood. The story used to be that they were going to Canada. And although that is still true, the bigger and more immediate story is the explosion of film productions that are occurring in the south.

The secret of Louisiana and other southern states recent success is due in large part to a generous bevy of monetary incentives the states offer producers. Under state incentive packages, makers of feature films, television movies, documentaries, commercials, and short films receive rebates and tax breaks generally pegged to how many locals they hire and how much they spend locally.

Incentives matter to filmmakers.

Nia Long & Sandra Bullock shot "
Premonition" in Minden, Louisiana.

A group of small Los Angeles-based production companies probably wouldn't be filming in Georgia this summer without them, said David Koplan, one of the producers of the comedy film "Randy and the Mob." “It's a really big deal for a small movie. It can make the difference in [our] being able to come to a city or not” he said.

But incentives alone aren't enough. Experienced workers, caterers, and camera and equipment rental houses are essential if incentives are to have any lasting effect. Low costs alone will not sustain a film industry. Consequently, Louisiana is beginning to amass just such an infrastructure of people, facilities, and suppliers as the state's film industry matures. Mississippi has set aside a 25-acre "Film Enterprise Zone" where work is scheduled to start this year on a film crew training center.

At least for now, the South is unlikely to ever rival Hollywood or New York as a center of the film and tv industry. But when stars like Queen Latifah, Julia Roberts, Diane Keaton, Nia Long, George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Sandra Bullock and the hundred of other Hollywood artisans take root in places like Shreveport, Louisiana, well, there is clearly a movement afoot.

CAN ANGELINA JOLIE BE A RACIST?

Can a White Woman with an Asian Son and Black Daughter Be a Racist?

NEW YORK, June 17 /PRNewswire/ -- While shooting a scene for "A Mighty Heart" in Mumbai, India, two of Angelina Jolie's bodyguards were arrested after a scuffle at a Muslim school, and Newsweek was there, alongside Jolie, as the events unfolded.

Last November, while Jolie was shooting a scene at a Muslim school in Mumbai, India, actors for the movie, dressed in Pakistani police uniforms and holding AK-47s, stood in the courtyard while children were in class. That afternoon, when parents showed up to pick up their kids, the gates were closed to keep paparazzi out. When parents became anxious, the school opened the gates, and the paparazzi flooded in with them. A scuffle ensued when the film's security guards tried to hold back the crowd.

Although no one was injured, the following morning, two of Jolie's bodyguards were arrested for intimidation. Unnamed sources in local newspapers claimed that the white, British guards had shoved parents and kids and called them "bloody Indians" and "bloody Muslims." The event escalated into an international incident, and Jolie had gone from being the most famous star in India to its most famous racist.

The following day Jolie told Senior Writer Sean Smith, who was in India with her at the time, "People advised me that this movie was politically dangerous. I thought maybe I shouldn't touch this. Maybe it would do more harm than good."

Deeply frustrated by the situation and the accusation, Jolie tells Smith in the June 25 issue of Newsweek (on newsstands Monday, June 18), "We've become so eager to accuse people of being racist, but I would rather they make up almost any other story -- about me sleeping with someone, anything -- but that," she says. "It's not only a crazy accusation, but it's the most insulting thing you could say about me, that I would employ someone who would be disrespectful to someone's race or would harm a child. They take care of my kids."
