Yeah let’s talk about sex, ‘cause my wife can’t ...
stay awake long enough to get the party started!
She’s not alone. Nearly 70% of women say they frequently have a problem sleeping, with most of them stressed or anxious and 60% only get a good nights sleep a few nights a week according to the National Sleep Foundation (NSF).
But while 72% of working mothers and 68% of single working women are more likely to suffer from insomnia, stay-at-home mom have the worst overall sleep difficulties. The “Sleep in America” poll found 74% of stay at-home-mothers suffered insomnia at least a few nights a week and 59% said they woke up feeling unrefreshed.
Solution: “See woman I told you, get a damn job!” But lets press on.
Kathryn Lee, of the NSF, said in a statement, “Woman’s lack of sleep affects virtually every aspect of their time pressed lives, leaving them late for work, stressed out, little time for their friends and too tired for sex!!
Now I don’t know about your home, but back in my crib I’m the first up and last to go to bed. I don’t get one of those hour long naps mom takes while the kids are at school. And don’t let her go to the gym, then it’s lights out right after and a guaranteed nap before starting dinner.
And let me put the kibosh to those who suggest, “get a sitter for the day so mom can get a break.” ‘Cause that just means she sleeps later, takes a longer nap and starts cleaning the house, “because I haven’t had the energy to clean before.”
To quote the NSF, “Instead of going to bed early to make up for the lack of sleep, 87%. watched television in the hour before going to sleep. ” The NSF recommends “avoiding caffeine in drinks, and alcohol a few hours before bedtime and finishing exercise three hours before bedtime.”
I say there’s got to be more. This is a dialogue, so let me hear your comments, or just say you feel my pain.
