THE IMUS CONTROVERSY: DON'T HATE THE PLAYER, HATE THE GAME

RUTGERS WOMEN'S BASKETBALL TEAM HOLDS THEIR OWN IN THE DON IMUS SCANDAL

If you saw the press conference today, you couldn't help but be impressed with the way representatives of the Rutgers women's basketball team handled themselves in today's press conference in response to Don Imus' comments in referring to them as "nappy headed hos".

While the Rutgers University President Richard L. McCormick was supportive and the basketball team eloquent, the show stoppers of the news conference were Rutgers head coach C. Vivian Stringer and team captain Essence Carson.

"We have experienced racist and sexist remarks," Stringer told a press conference, calling the remarks "despicable" and "abominable."

We are students first," said Carson. "We did not do anything to deserve his controversy."

When asked if presidential candidates should refrain from appearing on Imus' show in the future, Carson responded by stating that, as Stringer did earlier, that this situation highlights that it was all about money and ratings. And like everyone else who seeks to get their message across, they want to appear on a program that gives the greatest exposure to that message. Presidential candidates won't be exempt from that reality.

The team has agreed to give Imus an opportunity to apologize to them personally by meeting with him in private at an undisclosed location in the very near future.
BRAVO WOMEN!
