Howard Stern, Shock Jock Takes Big Lock, And Gets Married

The radio talk show host known for hosting porn stars married his longtime girlfriend, Beth Ostrosky, on Friday. "It's a nice feeling that we get along great," he said in 2006. "We're very happy, and I don't want to (blank) it up."

But he took the plunge anyway.

Stern told listeners he surprised Ostrosky with an engagement ring in February 2007 — while they were naked in bed.

During his first marriage, he boasted of his fidelity while hosting strippers and porn stars on his show. Stern and his wife of 21 years, Alison Berns, had three daughters before divorcing in 2001. Their romance inspired his film "Private Parts."

Brothers Man-Up During National Black Marriage Day

Why Did I Get Married???

After learning about Black Marriage Day, created in 2003 by Nisa Muhammad of the Wedded Bliss Foundation in Washington, D.C., in hopes of counteracting the plummeting black marriage rate, Dasi and her husband, Tariq Ziyad , decided to get on board by adding Cleveland to the list of cities sponsoring local celebrations.

So yesterday in Shaker Heights, Ohio's first-ever Black Marriage Day celebration opened. Appropriately enough, it began with a romantic serenade.

"I meant every word when I said, I do' . . . I still love you," crooned the Hue People vocal quartet as 20 couples made their way down the aisle at Eastview United Church of Christ in Shaker Heights.

Then the three-hour ceremony, one of more than 200 taking place across the country Sunday, unfolded with a mix of entertainment, marriage advice and testimonials. It ended with close to 40 married couples standing up to renew their vows.

Several of the husband-and-wife teams shook their clasped hands over their heads like boxing champions as their names were announced. Then they all gazed into each other's eyes to recite a pledge to stay committed and "get better together."

The goal of the event, said co-organizer Krsnanandini Dasi, is to strengthen black families by showcasing "black couples who are having successful marriages, despite the challenges and despite the statistics."

To all her guests, Dasi handed out a 20-page Black Marriage Day souvenir guide that, next to ads for wedding planners, party centers and marital counseling, spotlighted many of the grim statistics related to black families. According to 2000 census figures, 70 percent of all black babies born in Cleveland are born to unmarried parents. The story continues...

Black Filmmaker Tyler Perry Defends Janet Jackson's Honor & Lands On Top Weekend Box Office Heap With 'Married'

After Idiot In The Media Tries To Dis Janet, Tyler Gets The Last Laugh With Huge Opening!

Looks like Madea's Tyler Perry has returned to the top of the box office without having to get dressed up in drag. On a very competitive weekend, Perry’s Why Did I Get Married? has rocked Hollywood with an $8.65M Friday, and it’s headed for an outstanding $25 million 3-day opening.

While Black bloggers put on blast a local station who insisted on getting their digs in on Janet for her 2004 Superbowl wardrobe malfunction incident (something that prove embarrassing and catastrophic for Janet's music career), Tyler wasn't having it. (Watch the video)

Aside from some pretty good reviews, that alone made alot of folks go out and support the flick just to make the statement that we are not co-signing on rude, snarky jerks trying to catapult their game at Ms. Jackson's expense. No matter how much I'm not feeling House Of Payne, Perry is definitely a man on a mission who mainstream Hollywood really needs to stop ignoring. With an essemble cast including Michael Jai White, Richard T. Jones, Sharon Neal, Malik Yoba and soul crooner Jill Scott, it was definitely a much needed film in terms of expanding Black cinema.

The 38-year-old African American actor/writer/director established himself as an auteur and a box office sensation back in 1995 with Diary of a Mad Black Woman, which opened with a $21.9M weekend and went on to generate $50.6M domestic. Then came the even more successful Madea’s Family Reunion with a $30M opening and a $63.2M cume. Earlier this year, Perry tested his clout with the Gabrielle Union, Eldris Alba Daddy’s Little Girls, with disappointing results.

Now, the New Orleans-born brother is back in the game, with Married? likely become the 2nd-best opening of his filmmaking career, trailing only Madea’s Family Reunion. In the process, Perry has beaten back some White Hollywood heavyweights like Clooney, Wahlberg, Phoenix and Blanchett. The Game Plan, starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, will finish an impressive #2 for the weekend in its third week.

It will be very close for 3rd place for the weekend, but some are predicting that Michael Clayton, produced by and starring Oscar winner George Clooney, will finish in the show position. James Gray’s We Own the Night, starring Mark Wahlberg and Joaquin Phoenix, grabbed $3.75M on Friday compared to Michael Clayton’s $3.7M.
