PRESIDENT BUSH SALUTES HBCU’S AS 2008 ANGEL CITY CLASSIC ATTENDEES GET “FIRED UP” OVER UPCOMING ELECTION

Isaac Hayes Tribute feat. Lalah, Anthony and Angie Causes Excitement

Just weeks before the historic November election that could see one man forever change the face of presidential politics, tens of thousands will gather for the Farmers Insurance Group Angel City Classic to celebrate this milestone, as well as the educational opportunities and athleticism at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU).

A proclamation issued by President George W. Bush will also officially designate Sept. 7-13, 2008 as National HBCU Week. Traditionally, Congress also issues a resolution honoring the significant contributions made to our nation’s growth by these institutions.

”This is a banner year for Black people in this country, “noted Angel City Classic producer John T. Fleming, CEO of Black Educational Events, LLC. ”Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s ‘I Have a Dream’ speech left throngs of people marveling over his earthshaking vision of what America could be. Forty-five years later, an African-American senator from Illinois name Barack Obama wants to take the country to the Promised Land and the Classic is going along for the ride.”

The exciting gridiron match-up on Saturday September 27, 2008 will be between Morehouse College and Prairie View A&M University. Festivities kicking off at 10:00am will include an electrifying McDonalds Battle of the Bands half-time show, and an incredible Stax Records 5th Quarter Concert salute to Isaac Hayes, featuring celebrated artists Angie Stone, Lalah Hathaway, Anthony Hamilton and more A-List performers still being added.

With high schools throughout Southern California gearing up to welcome returning students who want to pursue their educational goals, the Classic will provide a one-of-a-kind experience of being in a stadium filled with over 70,000 fans talking high school and college football, politics, education, and the importance of strengthening their communities. Good food, great music, and ensuring citizens are registered to vote through the “Declare Yourself” campaign are just some of the things on tap.

Currently, there are 8 million unregistered blacks living in America

***The last day to register to vote for the November 4th General Election, including changing your party or address, is October 20, 2008. ***

This is about more than just a game. Serving to rejuvenate and unite a country filled with optimism about the future, as celebrity spokesman actor/producer Nick Cannon puts it, “It’s so official!”

People from as far away as Washington, Oregon, Nevada, Arizona and Texas want to bring their families to Los Angeles to partake in all the entertainment the day has to offer and Black Educational Events has made it easier to do just that.

Individuals can go online at Angel City Classic to purchase their tickets. They can also register to win a Brand New 2009 BMW COUPE.

Good seats are quickly selling out so don’t miss out. Get your tickets NOW for the 3rd Annual Angel City Classic.
