ROSIE TO DONALD TRUMP: "YOU'RE FIRED"

NBC is this close to throwing Donald Trump under the same bus Rosie O'Donnell is riding off "The View", but won't say so in case they need him at the last minute.

"The Apprentice" may be layed-off after NBC's 2007-08 programming lineup was announced Monday with no mention of anything with Trump's name on it.

Such an omission would normally spell doom for a low-rated show like "The Apprentice." The series has lost nearly two-thirds of its audience since its first and most successful run in the spring of 2004.

But asked whether "Apprentice" was now effectively dead on arrival, NBC Entertainment President Kevin Reilly insisted, "Not yet."

"We couldn't find the right spot for it. So after everybody announces their schedule, we're going to look at everything in context and then make a decision about it." Reilly said.

For once, there was no immediate comment from Trump.

With foreclosures going through the roof nationwide, development stalling in once white markets, property depreciating in value right now, and real estate professionals getting laid off left and right - no body's talking about "The Apprentice" right now.
